Partner Programme

We will provide a programme for the partners and children of delegates attending Linux.conf.au. This 5 day programme comes at a very reasonable price and will take you to many attractions around Auckland. Note that this is a work in progress that can be refined once we have confirmed bookings.

Lunches will be provided.


Partner’s Programme Itinerary

Monday January 12th:

8:45am - Official Maori Welcome @ Auckland University.
10:30am - On the bus and away to the Maritime Museum.
1pm - Lunch on the Navigator Outrigger (an above ground Hāngi).
And for the afternoon a cruise up the Viaduct on the TE AURERE.
We return to Auckland University at 4pm.


Tuesday January 13th:

9am - Meet at the University to catch the bus for a morning at Auckland's Museum Of Transport And Technology (MOTAT).
This visit will include a school holiday event, Under Pressure.
12:30pm - Picnic lunch in the beautiful Western Springs Park.
2:30pm - We will be returning to Auckland University.


Wednesday January 14th:

8:40am - An early start this morning to Auckland Wharf to catch a ferry to the Rangitoto Island Volcanic Tour.
12:45pm - Returning to Auckland Wharf on the ferry
1:25pm - Returning to Auckland University.


Thursday January 15th:

9:30am - Meet the bus at Auckland University for a tour of Mount Eden and Eden Garden for lunch.
12:45pm - Returning to Auckland University.
This afternoon is “free range”. You can wander Auckland’s CBD and shops, hang out in the University or join a group for a Day Spa Experience at The Langham Hotel if you have booked.


Friday January 16th:

This morning our group will be split.
9:30am - We will be meeting at Auckland University to catch the bus.
Caregivers and little ones will go to Butterfly Creek for fun and adventures. A Picnic lunch will be at the venue.
Child-Free Friday (for those without children) is a choice of one of the following events:
A wander through the Auckland Botanic Gardens
Visiting the Sky Tower
A ramble around Victoria Park Market and/or K-Road
A late start then High Tea at The Langham Hotel


Important Things To Note

Essential for each day are:

  • Comfortable Shoes
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • A Hat

Recommended for each day are:

  • Change of weather clothing (it can be windy in Auckland and that wind can be a bit chilly, even in summer).
  • Camera (or your phone).
